EYEBALL

You are cordially invited to Eyeball, the University of Toronto's one-night art show.

Free and open to all. There will be live music and a cash bar. Bring friends!

Originally home to Knox College, 1 Spadina Crescent is the distinctive Gothic Revival building constructed in 1875 that divides Spadina Avenue into two at its intersection with College Street. After Knox College became affiliated with the University of Toronto and then... moved into its current location in 1914, the building operated as a Military Hospital during the First World War and remained as a veteran's hospital until 1943. At this time, it was acquired by the University of Toronto's Connaught Medical Research Laboratories for the production of penicillin. Research in these labs later led to the discovery of the polio virus vaccine. Upon sale and relocation of the laboratories in 1972, it became an academic building.

As an academic building it currently houses the Visual Studies studios in the Fine Art Department and the Ontario division of the Eye Bank of Canada. It is from the Eye Bank of Canada that the Eyeball, the annual undergraduate visual studies art show, derives its name. Paying homage to the esteemed history of the building, the students hang selected art work in the building for night only and proudly open the doors for public display.
